About Me

Lily Stavish grew up in the small town of Stem, North Carolina, and fell in love with the musical world at a very young age. Her first piano lesson was at the age of 4 with violin lessons soon to follow at the age of 11. Every year she participated in the Young Artist Auditions and Music Teachers National Association competitions and pursued any type of musical ensemble provided through Duke University Strings School (DUSS), Lamar Stringfield Music Camp, and the North Carolina Chamber Music Institute (NCCMI). Lily continued to cultivate this love of music by moving to Raleigh, North Carolina to pursue her B.A. in Music with a Professional Performance Certificate at Meredith College, with a concentration in Piano.

Lily was in Meredith’s eight-hand piano ensemble, Octavia!, for seven semesters and Sinfonietta, the college orchestra, for eight. Her love for ensemble music grew to participation in jazz ensembles, chamber music, musical theater (Iolanthe, Trial by Jury, The Sorcerer), and opera (Don Giovanni, Little Women, Xanadu). Guided by her piano instructors, Dr. Kent Lyman and Mr. Tom Lohr, Lily performed two piano recitals during her time at Meredith – a Junior recital in Spring 2017 and a graduation recital in Spring 2018. Other performance opportunities have included the International Young Artists Project in Monte San Savino, Italy, the Oklahoma Haydn Festival, and Meredith College’s Concerto/Aria concert with the Raleigh Symphony Orchestra.

Currently, Lily is an active musician and teacher in the Triangle area, specializing in making music more accessible to people with disabilities. Her private piano studio of six years focuses on providing both adaptive and typical lessons to people of all ages.

In 2019, Lily began pursuing a Board Certified Behavior Analyst certificate to further her experience in education. She received a Master of Education in Applied Behavior Analysis and Autism from Endicott College and is completing her clinical hours at the Meredith Autism Program.

Her training in behavior analysis allows Lily to focus on the actions which help learners achieve their goals, regardless of current skill level. She enjoys collaborating with her students to set achievable goals and build lasting habits, from daily scales to musical phrasing.
